The short version. Football Archive XI does not use cookies, does not run advertising, and does not sell anything about you to anyone. It stores your game progress on your own device. If you turn on cloud saving or join the mailing list, that is the only time anything leaves your device that identifies you at all — and even then it is a random code, not your name.
Football Archive XI is operated by [YOUR NAME OR COMPANY], based in the United Kingdom. For any privacy question, contact [YOUR EMAIL].
For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for the limited information described below.
The game keeps your progress in your browser's local storage. This never leaves your device unless you enable cloud saving. It is not a cookie and is not visible to any other website.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Completed games and unlocked rounds | So your ladders and cup runs remember where you got to |
| Daily streak | So the streak counter works |
| Favourite club | So the game opens on your team |
| A random identifier | To count returning visits without identifying you |
| First-visit date and visit count | To measure whether people come back — see below |
Clearing your browser data removes all of it, and the game starts fresh.
We measure how the game is used so we can improve it. This is deliberately minimal:
When measurement is enabled, each event contains: the action taken (for example "game finished"), a random identifier generated in your browser, a session code, how many times you have visited, how many days since your first visit, your screen size, the website that referred you, and a timestamp.
We honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. If either is enabled in your browser, nothing is recorded at all.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: understanding whether a free game is worth continuing to build. The data cannot identify you, and you can switch it off using the browser settings above.
If you choose to save progress across devices, we create an anonymous account for you. No email or password is required. You receive a random access token stored on your device, and your progress is stored against it.
If you optionally provide an email address to move your progress to a new device, we store only a one-way cryptographic hash of it. We cannot read your address, email you from it, or recover it.
If you give us your email address to be told when the game launches, we use it for that purpose only. We do not sell or share it. Every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
If you submit a daily score, the display name you choose and your score are shown publicly. Choose a name you are happy for others to see — there is no requirement to use your real one.
All typefaces are hosted by us and embedded in the game itself. The game makes no third-party requests at all — no external fonts, no analytics services, no advertising networks, no social media trackers. Nothing about your visit is visible to any other company.
Any data that leaves your device is processed by Cloudflare and stored on their infrastructure. Usage events are deleted after 90 days. Progress and leaderboard entries are kept until you ask us to remove them.
The game is suitable for all ages and contains nothing age-restricted. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is nothing to collect unless cloud saving or the mailing list is used.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of any data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
In practice, most of what the game stores is on your device and under your control already — clearing your browser data removes it.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change is significant, say so in the game.
